For those of you running a Cummins ISX or ISM in your Freightliner, Pete or KW, there is a computer module out there which TS Performance claims can increase your mileage by 3/4 of a MPG.
Until recently, Kentucky-based TS Performance has been focused on pickups, but now the company has a plug-in fuel system module for Heavy Duty rigs. The computer chip monitors the fuel actuators, then optimizes the duration of fuel delivery at each injector across the entire RPM range.
The easy-to-install module is plug and play. Once removed, there is no shadow left in the factory computer.
Besides an increase in fuel economy, there is an increase in HP and torque. They claims as much as 20% to 30%.
TS Performance is now working on modules for Detroits, CATs and Cummins QSX and QSMs.
This aftermarket computer module is just the start of a trend for add-on performance computers for big rigs.
